South Korea has introduced a new Digital Nomad Visa, known as the F-1-D, designed to facilitate the stay of foreign remote workers in the country who are employed by companies abroad. This initiative replaces the previous pilot program, offering more relaxed conditions to lure a larger pool of international professionals.
Under the new guidelines, the income requirements have been lowered for specific groups, especially younger applicants and those intending to reside outside the Greater Seoul area or in regions identified as experiencing population decline. Alongside these changes, the duration for which the visa is valid has been increased from two years to three years.
The South Korean government has articulated that this move is part of a broader strategy to draw global talent, promote long-term settlement, and enhance South Korea’s attractiveness as a hub for highly skilled remote workers. By adjusting the eligibility criteria, the country hopes to appeal to a diverse range of professionals from around the world.
