In a strategic push to bolster international tech partnerships, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung showcased his country’s competitive edge in technology and innovation during a recent dialogue with top US venture capitalists in Silicon Valley. Lee emphasized South Korea’s robust digital infrastructure and highly skilled workforce as key assets, advocating for enhanced collaboration to drive the development of future global technology powerhouses.

President Lee underscored South Korea’s appeal as an investment hub, citing its rapid execution capabilities as a significant draw for investors. In his discussions, he assured that the South Korean government would actively support this initiative through various measures, including reforming visa policies to attract foreign experts, fostering stronger synergies between commercial enterprises and research bodies, and boosting financial support for burgeoning startups.

A notable outcome of Lee’s visit was the signing of a memorandum of understanding between South Korea’s National Pension Service and six prominent US venture capital firms. This agreement aims to enhance investment cooperation and fortify connections within South Korea’s vibrant startup ecosystem, marking a significant step towards deepening financial and technological ties between the two nations.

During his time in the United States, Lee also engaged with overseas Korean communities and key figures in the technology sector. His meetings included discussions with high-level executives from major corporations such as Samsung, SK Group, Hyundai, Nvidia, OpenAI, Broadcom, and Anthropic. These interactions underscored South Korea’s commitment to expanding its influence and partnerships on the global tech stage.

Following his engagements in Silicon Valley, President Lee embarked on the next leg of his overseas tour, heading to Brazil. This multi-nation trip is part of a broader strategy to reinforce economic and strategic alliances worldwide, reflecting South Korea’s proactive approach in fostering international collaboration and investment.
