Zelensky: Russia Employs International Fighters, Impacting Ukraine’s Economic Stability

The ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia has seen an increasing international dimension, according to recent statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Addressing the United Nations, Zelensky alleged that Russia is enlisting the support of foreign fighters from 47 countries, including Ghana, Nepal, and India, to bolster its military efforts against Ukraine.

In a striking revelation, Zelensky mentioned that two North Korean soldiers captured while fighting for Russia have been transferred to South Korea. This claim underscores growing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, a development that Zelensky warns is indicative of Moscow’s persistent quest for additional manpower and resources as the conflict drags on.

Zelensky also highlighted Ukraine’s strategic partnerships in military technology, particularly in the field of drones. He announced that Ukraine has secured agreements related to drone technology with Finland and Australia, and is in the process of finalizing a similar agreement with Canada. These partnerships are part of Ukraine’s efforts to enhance its defense capabilities amid the ongoing war.

Turning to energy security, Zelensky cautioned that Ukraine might target Russian heating and energy facilities if Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure persist through the winter. This statement comes amidst calls from the United States for both nations to refrain from targeting each other’s energy infrastructure. Zelensky clarified that any Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy sites would aim to curtail Moscow’s war revenues rather than disrupt civilian fuel supplies.
