As South Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continue to deepen their bilateral relations, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung recently held a meeting with Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of the Executive Affairs Authority of Abu Dhabi. The discussions, which took place at Cheong Wa Dae, focused on strengthening cooperation across various sectors.
The meeting followed up on the agreement established during President Lee’s state visit to the UAE in November last year, which aimed to build a long-term partnership between the two nations. President Lee emphasized the importance of the UAE’s prioritization of crude oil supplies to South Korea earlier in March, highlighting the mutual benefits of their collaboration.
During their dialogue, both leaders underscored the expansion of cooperative efforts beyond traditional areas like energy and infrastructure. They are now looking into collaboration in fields such as defense, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and cultural exchange. President Lee advocated for enhanced communication between officials from both countries to turn these cooperative areas into tangible projects, reinforcing the foundation of mutual trust.
Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak conveyed greetings from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and reiterated the UAE’s view of South Korea as a close partner. He noted that the partnership has grown to include investment, space, healthcare, and education, reflecting the broadening scope of their bilateral relationship.
This meeting comes at a time when further high-level discussions are anticipated, potentially culminating in a summit in South Korea next month. Such engagements are expected to pave the way for more comprehensive cooperation between South Korea and the UAE, as both countries seek to capitalize on their growing partnership.
